Farmers Market

The Des Moines Farmers Market has been a tradition for me and my family to go to every year. It is the biggest Farmers Market in Iowa, and every year they seem to take up more and more streets along Courtyard Ave and the surrounding streets. Growing up I have gone with my Dad and we have always enjoyed it. As our family grew and he got married I went with his wife and my baby sisters. I tried to get my friends to come with me as well, but it is difficult to get them out of bed and moving in time for the market. A great thing about the marketing timing is that during the summer months, you can have a full day of events just blocks away from each other… such as the World food and Music Festival and the DSM Art Festival!!

World Food and Music Festival

The World Food and Music Festival is a great festival usually at the end of August before school starts. It is a great festival, and unsurprisingly it has food from all around the world. They have a passport system where you can get a small sample for two dollars, and then you’ll get a stamp, and if you complete the six-stamp passport, you can get some freebies from the head tent.

DSM Art Festival

The Des Moines Art Festival comes every year during the summer, usually around sclutrpue park, and it has a large selection of artists, food, and music
