Hello, my name is Eden Thompson! I am a student at Drake University studying Digital Media Production and Graphic Design!
I am always interested in creative work, and I am looking forward to leaving school and working in a professional environment. I am currently working towards building up my portfolio and resume/CV through internships, personal projects, and freelance work. I am working towards getting a summer internship, and I’ve already started interviewing. And I have a freelance project coming up as well.
I try to stay ahead of the curve for my career, but it’s hard to stay motivated outside of school and my career. So something I love to do to keep my sanity is going out to different events with friends. Mostly thrifting events, farmers’ markets, food festivals, as well as the Des Moines Art Festival. The events are so underrated; I think everyone should try to go. While being busy, it’s not overwhelming.
For a personal project I am to develop would be a youtube channel just talking about things I’m passionate about. I always loved making youube videos when I was younger so I want to get back into it.
I have a love for trinkets and collecting things that interest me. My latest obsession has been Smiskis. I love buying them and getting my friends to buy them too. For Smiskis, they have a themed series with several different figures, and in the blind box format, you have a chance to pull different figures.
Since I’m born and rasied in Iowa, after school I would love to live somewhere else for a few years. My dream locations are Chicago, New York, Boston. To be honest I really love the east coast and I would love the opportuinty to live there. And even if I end up hating it I really want to get out of my comfort zone and live somewhere else on my own. I went to Boston this last summer and I loved it so much. I stayed in Cambridge and walking around was amazing. Again I love Iowa but Iowa doesnt have subways, walkable plazas, buses. It was just so charming. Being able to hop on a train and be somewhere in 20 mintues was so fanastaic! Being able to be the passenger after many long years of driving myself everywhere was so relaxing.
